Read all about it!

  • my amazing, wonderful super sweet sister (and her sister law on the left) both welcomed their baby girls in the world yesterday! Shayn Mattingly Hickey was born at 5:00 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 8 ouz. She has chubby cheeks and lots of hair. She is perfect!
  • My brother just received his mission call to Brazil. At 24 he will be the best missionary the world has ever known :)
  • In 5 1/2 hours the little mister and I will be flying to warm sunny Arizona for a photo shoot....I am nervous and excited....mostly excited to visit with some super lovely ladies and their darling children..... and introduce the little mister to the sun.....I am not sure that he has experienced what it is like to go outside and be warm...
This whole extravaganza almost makes me feel like a real photographer. almost.

Mrs. Congeniality

"WHEN PEOPLE SAY YOU SHOULDN'T, SHOW 'EM WHY YOU SHOULD. WHEN PEOPLE SAY YOU COULDN'T, SHOW 'EM WHY YOU CAN. WHEN PEOPLE SAY YOU WON'T, SHOW 'EM WHY YOU WILL. AND THEREFORE THERE WILL BE NO MORE DOUBTERS" - DWYANE WADE

The year was 1999  I remember sitting in a circle in Ms. Coulters 5th grade class room when my  twin sister Candi announced that she was not just planning but was in fact going to become a Dental Hygienist (I was planning on becoming rich and famous...or a waitress This weekend one of our life ambitions came true.... I will give you a hint it most definitely wasn't mine ;)

From the moment Candi made the decision to enter the dental field she has done everything in her power to make it happen. She learned the art of hard work and has done it with such grace and integrity. Her example truly is beautiful! I can't help but admire how she has always seemed to know exactly what she has wanted out of life to scrape plaque for a living and get the big bucks for doing it.  This weekend it officially became a reality.
My Mom and Pops looking smashing as ever!
The Utah of College Dental Hygiene awarded Candi a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. I am so confident that Candis' 5th grade self would be so very proud right now!

60 girls  started this journey with her and all 60 finished! The facility had a few special awards for the ladies they described to be the "best of the best." Candi of course was amoung them. She received an award for her compassion and was dubbed Mrs. Congeniality. I cried a good portion of the ceremony...The room was filled with emotion: excitement, anticipation and mostly relief.
Candi dearest friends at UCDH
Most of the relief seemed to be coming from the Husbands!
Although I think the biggest relief is that we finally have proof that "Candi" is in fact good for your teeth! I am sure kids everywhere will be rejoicing with this news!! ;)

Congratulations Candi!!

we are all so proud of you!!!

Back at it!

My dear friend the internet has been down for the past week and to be honest folks I have been at a total loss with out  her it. It has been quite shocking and even slightly disheartening that I have accomplished more this week without it then I have in a good month with her......but that is just in the details.......right?

besides givin' a lot of lovin' to the little mister. Taking care of him can be at times somewhat overwhelming but.... mostly he is super entertaining...
We(as in The Husband and the men I have hired) have marked a few things off our never ever ending "home projects to do list."
Last week I participated in far to much painting!
and added a retaining wall and pipe in hopes of solving our drainage problem ( the  water from the house above us water has been rolling down the hill coming dangerously close to the entrance of our basement....yep way to close for comfort!) Our neighbors below us have have expressed that they are less then thrilled with our improvement.....

love Cate!

p.s. A big thank you to all of you that prayed for my Nephew Lorenzo! It must have worked! His recovery was speedy and miraculous. Oh and I did my very first guest post over here!

*edit: I thought I should explain why our neighbors in the home below us aren't thrilled with the the fact that we are diverting water off of our property...it is because unfortunately it will go on to theirs! The city advised us to put a pipe in. The neighbors below us are beginning their pipe right where we left off...and sending the water right down the hill to the people below them. It is the gift that keeps on giving! I swear if the city would just put a storm drain in we would all be a little more popular!
