81/2 months Pregnant...and counting :)
35 weeks
Dr. Scoville checked me and explained that I was 50% effaced and 1/2 centimeter dilated....he told me that baby still likes it in their and your body still likes being pregnant.....I wasn't so sure about the accuracy of his last statement....My body feels pretty cooked already!
The very next day I was making a quick trip to our local Deseret Industries, I was about a half a mile from reaching my destination. I was equipped with a small bag of donations in one hand and my keys and pepper spray in the other. I was thinking about how lovely the weather was when all of a sudden a pine cone got caught under my foot (ya I wish it was something cool like a banana peel....like all the movies hehe) But nope a pine cone. All hundred and plus, plus, plus pounds of me hit the cement....belly first, I didn't even bother to let go of the items that I had in my hand...I did the graceful thing and laid there for a few seconds like a beached wale while I collected my composure and realized what had just happened! I immediately started crying (I am totally my mothers daughter :) As I slowly got up....a few cars were honking and waving at me....(I would rather just pretend that they didn't see what had just happened.)
I made the half mile walk home, and felt an overwhelming feeling that my baby boy would be just fine! But I do have to admit that I was still very concerned....I had fallen pretty hard and was irritated with myself that I had been so darn clumsy and didn't even try to catch myself!
Once I made it home I tried calling Kyler...who happened to be out of town with work... and whose phone was on silent. Leaving me completely car less and feeling a little hopeless! I then did the next logical thing and called our sweet madre...who has gotten more than her fair share of calls from me just sobbing instead of saying hello! Luckily Ginny was with Mom....come to think of it Ginny has gotten a disproportional amount of those calls as well :) Any way I talked to them and immediately felt reassured that all would be well! I called my doctor office and my doctor was already at the hospital and they said they would have him call me back, Dr. Scoville called me back and I explained the situation his response was "those darn pine cones, don't worry baby had plenty of padding"....my first thought was "is that a fat joke?":)
He then advised us to come in as soon as I could for a Non stress test. In the mean time I finally got a hold of Kyler who had about 6 missed calls flashing on his phone. He was already on his way. We went to the hospital where they quickly admitted me and monitored my contractions and Jett's heart beat. To everybody's surprise including my own! I was having contractions every few minutes! They were increasing in intensity and becoming even closer together. I was amazed at my pain tolerance...that was until they put an IV in top of my hand to stop the labor from progressing!! Holy smokes that hurt so dang bad....so much for priding myself on a high pain tolerance.....I think the nurse had to have hit a few nerves on her way in.
They monitored us for a few hours, Kyler intently watched the monitor measuring Jett's heart beat and I watched the Television trying to distract myself from my throbbing hand.....(I may have to rethink the whole natural child birth thing) Jett's heart beat was good and strong! Except for one little bit where it dropped dangerously low. Dr. Scoville being the young pre cautious doctor he is sent a request to get an Ultra sound to ensure there weren't any signs of placenta previa. I was delighted with the thought of getting yet another sneak peek at my little boy before his big debut. Everything looked perfect! Just thinking about his chubby cheeks and prominent chin just makes my heart melt! He was measuring a hefty 6 pounds 2 0z (but the technicians said he is most likely closer to five and half pounds.) To simply put it he looks absolutely perfect!
(isn't is little foot just way to adorable?!)
36 weeks
Since falling my belly button region has been extremely tender....I didn't really mention it to any one because I thought it had to do with good ol' inertia and that it was just because that is where my body came colliding with the asphalt but yesterday at our weekly doctors visit it was extra tender so I told Dr. Scoville and he confirmed while I laid on that not so comfy table that I did in fact have a Hernia....this is the bummer part....He said that my "outie" belly button might stay an "outie!" My eyes got big and with out thinking it through I exclaimed "your kidding me." With out hesitation and eyes equally as big he responded trying not to smile "I am not kidding you!" This may seem vain of me but I do not want a belly button poking through my shirt for the rest of my life! I am hoping that this outie that decided to make its grand appearance just a few short weeks a go will at the very least become a "flattie." He said it will need to be fixed after I am done having children....awesome....this alone may make me rethink the amount of children Kyler and I are planning on having....just kidding.
37 and 38 Weeks
At both my 37 and 38 week appointment I was still dilated to a one and 50% effaced...I think our little guys will definitely be holding out until July...This may be a long two weeks...I have even resorted to trying safe ways to induce labor....so far I have almost single handily ate a whole pineapple, used up a small bottle of tobassco and gone on more walks in a day than I normally would in a week...So those are the things that haven't really worked ...Let's see what else..oh, I have been called "fat" (mostly by old men) more in the last week than I have this entire pregnancy combined and my house is super clean...I am totally in the nesting mode :)and our hospital overnight bags have been packed so long they are collecting dust...
Other than that....
