Every little boy needs a hero

"Little boys are actually super heros in disguise." anonymous
Jett has been blessed to have so many people that he can look up to, I am confident he will live a life surrounded by people that he will think of as heros. The most obvious would be a loving Heavenly father and our savior Jesus Christ. And of course The man he refers to as"dadaa" or "ky-la." But sometimes the people we admire most in life may not be much older then a six year old little boy.

The little mister was taking a bath with all of his cousins when my sister handed him a bath color (something that he now has to have in every single bath....he loves watching the water magically change into something wonderful!)  not knowing what it was he instantly popped it into his mouth. Before my sister or I had a chance to react  to his sour face his six year old cousin jumped into the bath tub fully dressed, ripped off his shirt and began to wipe out Jetts mouth asking him if he was okay. He then grabbed a bath color (happened to be yellow which made his little grin afterwards that much cuter) and popped it into his mouth so that my little mister wouldn't feel alone.
That my friends is what a hero is made of.
Not to mention he let Jett play with all of his toys.
I think it is safe to say Jett will love this little boy forever. Because it is pretty hard not to.

My older sister his so so kind and compassionate, I suppose  it is only natural that her three small children would pick up on that trait....: )

Happy Friday!!

entertainment at its best

I have been in my pajamas for two straight days....I am not sick and The Husband is not impressed.... My little mister has been a little under the weather. Besides my undivided attention he requires lots and lots of yogurt. I took a leap of faith and did something I swore I wasn't going to do until he was 5. I plugged in the movie Tangled and watched the magic of television take over. It was liberating mixed in with not as much guilt as I thought I would have. I smiled as I watched his mouth gaped open and him  blinking about every 15 minutes. Who would have known that the boy who is the definition of perpetual motion was capable of sitting still that long? I am maybe a little to excited about this discovery.

But even more exciting and most definitely way more entertaining then some telvision was having my sister, her husband and four of her children (and grand baby) come visit! Jett had the time of his life with his older cousins who chased him, played cars with him and laughed at everything he did. Jett even got his first little shiner this weekend. The best part is nobody seems to know how it happened....haha

This handsome guy scooped our entire driveway by hand! He worked for hours to surprise us! My heart has officially melted. What a sweet boy he and his brothers are! He even came in and built me a fire. I want the little Mister to be just as thoughtful at the tender age of 9. Compliments to their Mama.

I was able to sneak off and attend this Christmas Devotional....it was so warm and peaceful in the conference center.....then they turned down the lights...I knew I was a goner.

Luckily I became wide awake right at the end to hear the Prophet speak. It was nothing short of wonderful. I needed something to pull at my heart strings.

I photographed a birth

My twin sister gave birth to the cutest little boy. Baby Dallas
I am not sure what it is about birth stories and photography that I am completely obsessed with. I think it is because there is something so miraculous about every single story I read or photo I see.  What a privilege it was to witness something so perfect come into this world. Every newborn brings with them something the world has never seen before. I can't help but be inspired by that. To read the story please go here. I choke up every time! 24 hours of labor!!  She did so well and is so so strong! After 15 hours of labor with my little Mister I was ready to tap out.....24 hours seems unthinkable!

One of the most touching/beautiful birth story that I have ever read was the birth of baby Nella. You can read it here. Bring some kleenex, actually bring the whole box , it is that incredible.

The birth photographer that I am most admire would be hands down  be  Jessica kettle! This story she photographed is exceptionally beautiful.

Jett decided to make our Thanksgiving more exciting......poor guy!

My heart stops any time the Husband wears this shirt.....I was melting all day!
Before we embarked on our 7 hour drive to Boise I noticed My little mister tugging at his ear.....I almost didn't take him to see his pediatrician....maybe it was because I had been in countless times with my little guy just for them to tell me he was doing great.....but most likely it was  because all week I had been planning on the last minute to get everything packed and ready to go. Luckily my better judgement (her name is Candi) told me to take him in.

We left the pediatricians with a prescription to treat a horrible double ear infection! The doctor described my little Mister as one of those "silent sufferers." Yep I think I just ensured my spot as mother of the year! Before the peditrician left the room he popped his head in to tell/warn us that the antibiotic he prescribed would probably make everything go straight through the mister. I smiled politely not thinking much of what I thought to be an off-handed comment. The Husband and I would soon find out exactly what that doctor meant! This my friends was just the icing on the cake....The cherry on top would be the lack of naps he took throughout the week.

Despite that, we had the very best of Thanksgiving weeks. The husband prepared a sweet heart turkey roast and it was so tender you could cut that baby like butter! Grandma Johnson made her sogoodbetyoucan'tjusteatonepiece apple pie. I made pumpkin pie filling for the first time ....and think I was the only person that realized how amazing it tasted :)Not to mention all the visiting that inevitably took place. My sweet mother-in-law is responsible for all the other holiday magic that we felt that weekend. Thank you!  The only thing missing was a certain Cherry family!

The Mister loved taking toys playing with his too cute for words cousin Bronco.

One thing that has been racing through my mind this
holiday season is this thought:

I am normally not the betting type!

Tomorrow we are finding out if I have a little lady or a little Mister growing inside me! I change my mind like a girl changes clothes (a little hot n cold for ya ;)  . My "uncontrollable cravings " (shh... that is what I tell The Husband, I am completely and utterly helpless when a craving hits....he doesn't buy it) For salt and vinegar chips (because that is the secret to growing a healthy baby) points to a little boy, but later in the evening when I am over our dumpster losing the same salty vinegar goodness I am convinced my little girl is behind it...

The chinese calender said I was having a boy....they also said that the little Mister was a girl.

My sister Noreen had a very experienced ultrasound technician that claimed that 4 year olds are always right! She said they just know! The technician had been keeping a log for years and only once had a four year old been wrong. They were apparently heavily influenced by their older brothers and sisters. Coincidently Noreen had a four year old at home who was insistent it was another little lady, sure enough she was right!

I asked my sweet little two year old niece Gwen what I was having. She said a boy. I asked her what she was, she responded boy.....

We casted out votes:

The Husaband:  boy

Me: girl

The little Mister: undecided

Any guesses??

Before I forget...

I really love being a mother......but I would be fibbing if I said I love everything that goes along with that job title. One thing that has headed south for the winter (besides certain body parts) and I fear  may never come home is my memory....I didn't have the sharpest one to begin with, the fact that it is clearly worse is nothing short of tragic......I went to sign my name the other day I spelt my last name wrong....not okay.

This morning I woke up wracked with fear that if I didn't record all the millstones that my little mister has triumphantly achieved they would be lost forever...yep in my mind they would have never even happened.

Jett Facts That I Still Remember:

*7.1 months pulled himself up for the first time

*7.5 months Jett being enticed by the flashing button of an abandoned cellular device crawled clear across the room to retrieve it....that was the moment my life changed forever.

*11.5 months went from 0-6 teeth in one week (unless you count the tooth that popped through at six months and then went completely flat again) I am ashamed to say I think I felt worse for myself then him that week!

* 12 months On July 8, 2011 eleven days after Jett's first birthday on his original due date I was picking up Jett after an appointment at his s Aunties and Uncles house when I turned the corner only to have Jett walk across the room towards me!! Shock! His walking days were short lived and now he prefers to run everywhere he goes. But mostly he prefers to climb.

* At 16 months he loves waving bye to everyone he meets. He loves to be chased, climb, eat eggs and yogurt read stories, take showers, be outside, He is beyond sweet and is so so so quick to smile, he is currently getting three molars in and is handling it like a champ, apples, channel changers and gum are not safe when this little mister is around  and most importantly he loves to  play.....play and when we have free time play some more.

And that folks is a Fact. I suddenly feel so much better that at least this blog has the responsibility of remembering these important dates and not yours truly. You know because  I am sure Jett is reallllllly going to be interested in all of this when he is grown up.....riiiight? Actually I am doing this for his future wife.

I think I fell in love...again

Actually this falling in love business keeps on happening. After I met The Husband I swore I was done, that was it. Then I gave birth to my little mister. I watched my twin sisters son come into  this world 8 days ago, love again. And yesterday I went to a Dr. appointment that I had scheduled for way to early in the morning in the pouring rain with a husband and little puppy boy that really didn't want to be there. I waited 50 minutes in a sterile doctors office only to have a doctor come in for three to four minutes......but I guess that is all it took. I heard my babies heart beat and felt my heart start falling in love yet again. I felt like my whole body was smiling. For the first time this child seemed more then hypothetical, it felt like mine. In less then five weeks we will be finding out what we are having.....$10 bucks it is a boy just because I have the color scheme and bedding picked out for a nursery if it is a girl....and I brought out my baby bracelet making kit....you know just in case ;)

We are Shameless

Fall was in the air, but 8 inches of snow, a fire crackling in the fire place and [ahem] Pandora singing her little heart out to Mariah Carey Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

quickly changed the mood.....

In the bottom right hand corner is that a...branch!?! {gasp} Yes! It's true, shortly after these photos were taken our sparkly little pumpkins had to make like fall and leave....get it. ha..... And our  Christmas decorations went up....I know what you are thinking, Before Thanksgiving?? Shameless I know!
The little Mister was sad to see the little pumpkins that he would ever so carefully throw on the ground several times a day be packed away.

He is taking consolation in the fact that now he has a whole tree of (shatter proof) ornaments that he is able to hide or rearrange till his little heart is content......whoever the smarty pants is that invented shatter proof ornaments should definitely be in the running for a noble peace prize! People are so clever.

And they call it puppy love!!

Kyler brought home a puppy......we named him Jett.

Whenever a trick or treater would knock on our door you could here pitter pattering across our hard wood floor as Jett patiently waited for me to open it up the door only to try to follow the trick or treaters home.....He crawled around on all fours, panted and even ate his little bone. If I ever found a puppy as cute as the one we had last night I would consider getting a real one...... Luckily for Kyler I don't think any puppy could top the cuteness of the hyper puppy I had last night......were talkin' cuteness overload...These photos don't even begin to do that little puppy  justice!

Sunshine Wanted: A peek into Our Bedroom

The Johnson household has bee sick. sick. sick. My poor Winnie has the flu for the second time in two weeks! Isn't there some type of universal law that protects people who diligently get their flu shot every. single. year to prevents this type of mayhem from even happening?? No? There really should be. Yesterday Wynn projectile vomited {my new i phone caught the brunt of it...I knew we should have gotten insurance} Jett came into see what the fuss was about....and started playing in it!! I told him frantically that we had to clean it up and he grabbed a teeny tiny napkin and got to work...It is so nice having some extra hands around the house...I am loving all the extra help ;)
My children haven't experience fresh air or sunshine since the first of November. I want to go to San Diego, Hawaii, heck even Vegas and bring some of that glorious sunshine home with us... Sleep deprivation. Sick babies and mourning the loss of fresh air and sunshine has gotten to me.  My poor sisters have unknowing answered their phones to me at my ugliest most vulnerable moments... and they still love me!! They really should screen my phone calls! Holy smokes really.. I am feeling just a bit past so done....fried/frazzled/crazy would all be good words to describe me as of late!!

This morning I got up to make breakfast and I realized that everything I thought I put in the refrigerator last night was in my cupboard......dang

On to my bedroom ...a place where sleep used to take place. Now it is the fortress for a two year old who thinks it makes the perfect trampoline and the very best king of place for a game of hide and go seek!

(scroll over the photo to see a before:)
If I were to "finish" this room I would love to do linen shams and a cowhide rug. That poor ottoman had a little incident with grape juice...hence the throw blanket ;)

and because you can't see the roman shades behind the navy drapes in the photos this is the fabric we used for the them...LOVE it friends

Dallas Ryan Kidd

I have never in my life seen a baby look more like his daddy then this little boy does!! He has the best little disposition and has been sent to such a wonderful home. He is a lucky little boy.

This brief case belonged to his late Grandpa Kidd.

Both Candi and I had the opportunity to do a newborn session with the very talented Skye Johansen. I completely realize that both of our sons look exactly like their dads. But for some reason I am still a little  shocked that my identical twin sister and I  have babies that don't look exactly alike! But I do think that baby Dallas does have  more of "our" eyes :)

I also took newborn photos with this STUNNING family you can view them here.

I am going to have another baby in May!

But I think it is safe to say  that I have everything under control.............

yep.....completely under control!!

things are going to get even more exciting around here.
But I have always loved an adventure.
