right of passage???

Today we are taking the Miss to get her ears pierced! My whole life I thought that Candi and I got ours pierced at the tender age of two months...
All  so that my Dad would be able to tell us apart!
Then I realized when I uploaded the photo above that I have been living telling a lie! We are at least 4 months old there and our ears are earring free!! HA

The Husband wanted to wait until Wynnie was old enough to decide for herself....I told him "I don't remember you asking Jett before we had him circumcised?"...Needless to say Wynnie daddy is giving his blessing ;)

I love asking people when they were able to pierce their ears! It is not a right of passage in our house hold....not like turning 12 and being able to add a little frosting....now that is a big deal! Dating at 16 even bigger deal!
I think the miss is starting to look like me the Mama?? Just kidding we all know she looks just like her brother.....maybe with earrings I will stop getting "girl or boy?".....When has a pink outfit stop being enough??

Are earrings a right of passage in your family? Just for fun what do you lovelies consider a "right of passage?"

  1. I love seeing babies with their ears pierced! My mom had mine done when I was 3 but she didn't wait that long for my sisters. We did our daughter when she was 2.5 months old. If we have anymore girls I will definitely do it that early!

  2. I don't think there is anything much cutier than a baby with pierced ears! I took both my girl right after they had their first shots. My mom made me wait till I was 6 and I remember hating that I couldn't have them done sooner!

  3. Was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Enjoyed reading your story.

Admittedly, I know a lot of people have strong feelings when to pierce a child’s ear. “Let them decide” is being replaced by parental decision when mommy intuition knows, “earlier is better” from either personal or friend’s experiences of unpleasant childhood ear piercing. I think it just depends on your own personal choice whether or not you wish your baby or little girl to have pierced ears. We did our dd at 6 wks old and mine were done at 14 days old. so your dd is certainly old enough.

Tell dh he doesn't have to go when you take her to have them pierced, but she'll look adorable with little earrings and more like "daddy's little girl" afterwards :)

Our ped said when mommy could care for them was best. Afterwards, I realized that my ped was right and I went ahead and had her ears pierced after reading and following my ped's tip how and where to find the right person and place to pierce my dd's ear safely.

BTW, she'll look adorable in her upcoming holiday pictures with little earrings.

If any moms are curious and would like any of our ped’s suggestions, then don’t hesitate to write me an e-mail.

  4. We are sticking with my rule growing up, 12 yrs. I want them old enough to decide if they want them or not, and manage them by themselves. I think little girls are beautiful just the way they are. But isn't that beautiful how we all can be so different & all get along!

  5. Schuyler put his foot down about earrings for Gwenny. I didn't really care either way, so it didn't bother me a bit. Once she started asking me for them nonstop for a few weeks, I planted the idea to give her dad a big hug ad kiss and ask him. The next day she got them done. She didn't even say ouch. She was so excited that she welcomed the pain :). I say to each his own :). Can't wait to see pictures...... I'm texting Allen right now to send me some. Love you guys.
