Buzz lightyear to the rescue

(swimming lessons alone may or may not be the reason it says 3 and over on the box....just sayin' ;)
When we purchased our home we knew it had a built in trampoline but what we didn't realize was that along with that very trampoline we would be equipped with a life time supply of balls and broken squirt guns. I remember it was a gray damp day when the husband convinced me that I should be the one to climb under our trampoline and retrieve the goods.. It seemed like a perfect breeding ground for small animals and large insects.....he said something about me being so small and pretty and under I went....I am shaking my head just writing this :)  Half barred was a tiny buzz light year figurine. I dusted it off and handed it up to my little Mister, naturally it went straight into his mouth. He carried "Baby Buzz" around that entire day. It was love my friends. And this is where the stories of Buzz Lightyear  began.

The story of "Big Buzz."

Taking a toddler to all of my OB appointment definitely seemed like it was going to be a story in the making. You know the stories where you either laugh or cry because your laying on a table half dressed with a loose sheet over you while your busy toddler reorganize the doctors drawers while simultaneously trying to stick sharp objects in the outlet..... But what I wasn't expecting was to look back at those busy doctor visits and feel my heart smile. And have the very best kind of story.

The very first thing that would happen when we would walk through the doors would be Jett running over to the toys and grabbing "Big Buzz." Buzz would be his partner in crime for the rest of the visit, he never sat him down, not even for a second. You can imagine the tears whenever we had to leave "Big Buzz" so "other children can play with him." The Mister and Buzz were super busy and never seem to notice my nurses and nurse practitioner poking and prodding at me. But when my actual doctor came in who was a man The Mister took notice.

The doctor came over and measured my tummy, her heart beat and was preparing to "check and sweep." In the words of Buzz light year "when there is danger there is a space ranger!" Jett threw down his beloved toy and started screaming at the doctor "NO!! Byebye  NOOO BYEE!!" he looked over at me yelling "MAMAamamaa BYE BYE." Jett who usually is more of a lover than a fighter shocked me when all 30 pounds of him lunged forward clawing and swinging at my physician while a nurse on hand held him back. The nurse commented over the screaming "he is trying to protect you!" My eyes welled up with hot tears. I was trying to smile and tell him Mama was okay.....which is near impossible to do during a "check and sweep." I reached out and held his still swinging little fists. As soon as the doctor stepped away The Mister stopped swinging and ran over to Buzz. When leaving the two nurses on hand stuck out their hands where they excitedly received high fives. When my doctor bent down with his hand out stretched Jett looked forward and walked right by him. "Did I just get burned by a two year old?" my doctor asked in a puzzled voice. We all laughed knowing that in his little way he was protecting me, his mother. I kinda love that....:)

The Story of "Baby Buzz."

There is something about having a nice ripe belly and a toddler in your arms that makes advice given people just gravitate towards you! My favorite gem of advice was given by a lady just walking by who off handily commented"remember there is always room for two on that lap of yours!" So when I was sitting in my little yellow rocker feeding Wynnie and Jett wanted up I welcomed him. I pulled the Mister on my lap and switched the Miss to the other side. When I looked down I couldn't stop laughing......Jett was holding "Baby Buzz" up to get some milk.....Much to my shock I was nursing Wynnie on one side and buzz lightyear... on the other. I apparently rock at tandem feeding!! HA. Due to the PG-13 nature of it all I didn't take any pictures...you're welcome....
