crash course in parenting 101

Kyler and I had a weekend of adventure...Last weekend we had the chance to watch his brothers children. We arrived Wednesday and left Saturday....It was defiantly an exciting weekend to say the least, they are all very sweet children. Although Kyler was at work most of the time He was exhausted (I cannot help but laugh as I write this) He thinks it might be a good idea to wait at least...two more years until we start our family...my, my how things have changed over the last few weeks :)He was very good with the kiddos and it was fun to watch him comb and style the little boys hair and read them bed time stories... He was in for a lot of shockers this weekend...he could not believe how picky the kids were, He did not even see the point of cooking for children if they preferred a piece of dry toast over his ever so yummy pancakes, and going to the video store or really anywhere was more of an ordeal than he had ever anticipated..it dawned on him that once we had a child our nightly walks would never be quite the same....: )

I was really proud of myself for staying calm this whole weekend even when sugar cookies and flour covered the kitchen and the kids were screaming things like "Brock peed on our tooth brushes" I go in there to see their darling three year old brother naked as a J bird standing up on the sink peeing.... I did not know what to say and could not help but smile and being grateful that at least he was going in the bathroom...just like I asked him to...I guess next time I need to be more specific on where at in the bathroom. One other funny thing was the children’s parents left me one solo key for their little red car in case of an emergencies....I went into the bedroom and noticed it was gone (it is an older car and I new there was a good chance that this may be the only key they had) I had heard stories of the Brock flushing his Dads cell phone down the toilet and putting his treasures in air vents....I told the kids who ever found the key we would get an extra dollar for the Dollar store....they looked diligently...for at least 10 minutes. Brock would say things like " I don’t know I guess someone took it." After searching and having Kyler call and admit that there car key seemed to be "misplaced"...lost just seems to permanent...But as we were blessed, only later did we go up stairs to watch a Tom and Jerry movie and Brock found the missing key in the DVD case...it is amazing when that happens :) haha

I have so much respect for my sisters....they are amazing...The kids behaved and minded really well but I was tired!! I got 12,000 steps a day without exercising! I really enjoyed myself we had fun, we had water balloon fights, made father’s day cards, played hop scotch, went to the park and did other fun things. when we were at the park I was chasing the kids around and Maggie sweetly told me that maybe if I lost some weight I would be faster...I had to remember who was the adult and resist from telling her that I have lost weight....I guess to a seven year old who likely weighs in 45 pounds soaking wet breaking the 150 barrier is not that impressive, so I resisted...but I am ashamed to say I still was not that mature about her innocent comment because I made a point to tag her every time I had a chance...She was really fast, So I honestly did have a hard time : )

The Next day the park was easier because My mother in law had brought another one of my sister in law three children over to play they played so well and had so much fun with their cousins.... the wind was perfect and we were able to fly a kite with little effort on our part we had so much fun....maybe a little to much fun because I noticed that the kids looked darker than realized I was a whole lot redder....it really is a viscous cycle of my skin going from a lovely Lobster red to white as mayonnaise ( I am still waiting for the golden bronze to happen)

than my mother in law was super tired so I took the six little chilies home and they played all after noon...again my sister are incredible that they can handle so much!! they were wonderful....now that I think back I am pretty funny the fact that I would often catch myself saying things like "who ever is sitting quietly with their arms folded will get the first popsicle." I sure hope when I have a family of my own I do not run it like a preschool....

On Friday night I had Kyler put the children to bed and went on a date with my sister in law Kailee we went and saw the movie the Proposal I loved it so much...but regret to say that I could not recommend it. There was a scene that they left VERY little to the imagination...and in a way it ruined the whole movie..but it was funny! If I could get it edited it would defiantly be a keeper.

We ate so much popcorn....that I would like to say I will never eat it again but realistically it will be at least a week :)
